How Bankruptcy Can Stop Wage Garnishment
Wage garnishment orders are entered by a civil court after a creditor has obtained a judgment against you for the amount owed. Some creditors can have your wages garnished without a court order; these are limited to governments or the parent of your child who is owed support.
